Restored as Adopted Children: Christmas 1

Readings for the Day:
Reflection:

In Galatians this morning, we hear that we have gone from being slaves to being Children of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We hear that Christ Jesus came into this world to help adopt us as children of God.

In our sin, we created a breach in our relationship with God. We rejected God and everything that had to do with Him. By doing so, we became slaves to sin.

But God didn't want that to be the end of the story. Instead of allowing us to put ourselves under the burden of sin, and instead of allowing us to destroy ourselves, God came down to bridge the divide between ourselves and Himself. He came down to be one of us. He died for us so that death would no longer keep us from Him, but so that we could make our way back to God.

With our relationship restored, renewed, and recreated, we are now adopted sons and daughters in the family of God through Christ Jesus.

Because we have been brought back into relationship with God, we can cry "Abba, father!" to Him. So for the wonderfulness of our God who would come back to restore us into relationship with Himself, we can say, "Thanks be to God!"
