Faith Fact- Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation

Confirmation- the public mature affirmation of our Baptismal Vows in front of the Bishop

Reception- the public receiving of a baptized Christian adult into our denomination in front of the Bishop

Reaffirmation- the public reaffirming of our Baptismal Vows in front of the Bishop. Appropriate especially when going through a life change, returning to the church after some time, or when a friend or loved one is going through Confirmation or reception

What makes us members of the church is Baptism. So why have these services at all?

The Bishop is the heir to the Apostles. Thus the Bishop represents the unity of the church.

When we make our mature public affirmation in front of the Bishop, it is really a sign that we make this affirmation in front of the whole church. That is why these services are important and matter because they represent our unity as Christians. Our unity is what brings us together. It is what makes us one as the body of Christ Jesus.
