In it, we have two slaves waiting on their master. One continues the work he is given to do, even though he does not know when the master will return.
The other follows not the master, but the ways of the world. He doesn’t follow the Two Great Commandments, particularly the second command to love one’s neighbor, but only cares for himself. He eats, drinks, and is merry, just as the world around him would prefer him to be.
In this time of year, we have this same choice. We can take the time to wait and prepare in order that the Christ Child might be more present in our hearts during the Christmas Season. Or we can follow the path of the world that would have us just party and focus purely inwardly on ourselves.
Follow Jesus or follow the world. The choice is yours. I hope you make the wise one.
