The Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the most important people in our faith. One of the titles give to her is "God-bearer" because she bore the human form of God in our Lord Jesus Christ into our world. This allowed God to walk among us as a fellow human being as our Lord made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross so that we could be restored in relationship to Him.

Mary is also important to us because of her faith. When the angel Gabriel came to tell Mary, who would have likely been a teenager at this point, that she would bear God into this world, Mary would have known the risks. To be found with child not by her betrothed Joseph meant Mary could have been stoned to death. There was no reason for Mary to give her consent to what God was asking.

Yet Mary did it anyways because she had faith that even with all the risks, all would be okay in the end, for herself and for the world.

Mary is not just someone for us to hold up in awe because of her role in the life of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Mary is also an example to us of how to live in hope and faith. So when you are lost and need to know how to keep holding on to your trust in God, look to Mary and be more like her.
