There are several days that are good for a baptism. They are:
- The Great Vigil of Easter
- The Day of Pentecost
- All Saints' Day
- The Baptism of our Lord
- Whenever the Bishop visits
You can learn more about these days and why they are particularly good for a baptism from a previous Faith Fact, "Good Days for a Baptism".
There are times when one of these days occurs and there is no one to be baptized. When that happens, it is appropriate to say the Renewal of Baptismal Vows in place of the Nicene Creed.
Renewing our Baptismal Vows on these days reminds us of our own baptisms and what that means for our lives as followers of Jesus in this world. Renewing these vows reminds us of our purpose and what God is calling us to do.
It is always helpful to take a step back and look at who we are and what we are doing in all aspects of our lives. It is important for us to do the same in the church as well.
