“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 12:12
All of us, whether we realize it or not, just by being baptized members of the Body of Christ, have an important role to play in the life of the church. That is what Paul reminds us of in 1 Corinthians. He goes on to speak more about the individual gifts of the Spirit we each have and how all those gifts are needed to serve God in this world.
It can be easy for us to forget the importance of our own role in the church from time to time. Without you and your talents, we cannot do God’s work as effectively in this world. You each have something to offer the church. We need you, and we need your gifts. My hope is that you will take the time to listen to what God is saying to you about your gifts and how to further utilize them in the church.
I also want to help you as you discern. In the near future, our Faith Facts will cover, among many topics, the role of clergy and the importance of lay ministry. My hope is that you will come to see just how important your ministry is as well as learn some of the ways your clergy might be able to help you with that ministry.
If you would like further help as you discern what God may be calling you to do, please feel free to reach out to me at fathertreykennedy@gmail.com.
Thank you for the service you have given to the church, and thank you for your willingness to go deeper to see God’s Will for you in your life. Together we can grow in our life and Faith and use our individual gifts to help the world know the saving power of God’s Grace through the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
