We’ve all had moments where we’ve struggled with our relationship with God. Whether it is over zealousness like Paul or mere pride and stupidity like Peter, we’ve all had moments where we’ve turned away from the path God would have us trod.

That is why what we witness with Peter today is so important. He denied our Lord, claimed he hadn’t even met the guy. He turned away from Jesus at our Lord’s lowest moment.

Yet Jesus offers Peter the way back. Not only does Jesus give Peter this chance, but He calls him to an important service: “Feed my sheep.”

We may turn away from God, but God doesn’t turn away from us. There is always a new task to perform. There is always a new vocation to fulfill. We just have to be ready and willing to turn back from our divisive ways and return to God’s service whenever we are called upon so to do.
