Today our Gospel reminds us we are called not to exalt ourselves but instead to live into our role as servants as we help our Lord bring the kingdom of Heaven to earth. It is appropriate we remind ourselves of this on the day we remember the Disciple and Apostle Bartholomew.
Almost nothing is known about Bartholomew. The only thing we do know is that he was a Disciple and Apostle of Jesus.
Bartholomew didn’t ask for recognition of his deeds. He just went out to spread the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is all we know about him. That is all we need to know.
Seek to be more like Bartholomew. Don’t try to exalt yourself. Instead, just do the work God has given you to do.
