We spent most of the last season, the Season after Pentecost, hearing of all the times people didn’t follow God, even after all that God was speaking to them.
How amazing is it then that we see Andrew, his brother Peter, and the song of Zebedee immediately following after Jesus in the Gospel appointed for today? There’s speculation as to whether this passage is set before or after they had been following Jesus. Is this Jesus’ initial call, or is this Jesus’ call back to ministry for them?
What ever the case is doesn’t matter. They answered the call. Unlike their ancestors, they heard God’s call to them and answered it immediately.
Can we be like Andrew and the others? Can we be that brave? Can we be ready and willing to answer God’s call immediately after hearing it?
