Thomas often gets unfairly treated in the church. We often choose only to look at his doubt. Yet it is not doubt for doubts sake. He lays out specifically his requirements for belief. When those requirements are met, he is the first to affirm Jesus not only as “Lord” but also as “God”.

My hope is that you will have the bravery to ask questions when you have them. My further hope is that when you ask questions, you will be open to listening to what answers may come.

The Season of Advent is one of preparation. The Season of the Nativity is about treasuring the “joy and wonder in all God’s works” within our hearts. Asking questions and being receptive to the answers is a great way to prepare to start doing just that.
