Trailers are such a big part of our media experience now. It sometimes seems like there is more excitement about the trailer than there is for the actual thing it is advertising! Yet a good trailer will give a good sense of what the movie, or other media, is about while making it clear that the best is yet to come.
Think of today’s reading as a trailer for Sunday. Yes, we get a great solid theology of the relationship between the Father and the Son in the Trinity. Though we end with the news that those who are dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and live. This is at the heart of our Faith. It will also be the chief topic of our readings on Sunday.
If this thought, that the dead can be raised just by Jesus’ voice, appeals to you, think of this as your trailer. Know too that the best is yet to come.
