Jesus says “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
Those words really sum up our celebration of the Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist.
In the end, nothing else maters except what we can point to. That’s what Luke did as an Evangelist. He pointed others not to himself, but to Jesus. He led the way so that we could see that Jesus is the fulfillment of all Scripture.
To follow Luke’s example means living into this verse. To follow St. Luke, we too must follow Jesus. To follow Luke means being an evangelist, pointing others by all that we are and all that we do all the way back to Jesus.
