However, we still don't get to hear all of Scripture in that time, which sometimes means important context of what's going on in the reading gets left out.
Fortunately the Prayer Book offers a solution. In the note concerning the Lectionary in The Book of Common Prayer on page 888, it states at the very end: "Any Reading may be lengthened at discretion."
This rubric isn't employed often, though it is helpful when just a few more verses can help us know what is going on the reading that much better.
