Holy Week is coming up, and 3 services stand out specifically during this time: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and The Great Vigil of Easter. Together these three services are referred to liturgically as the Triduum.

Bishop Neil Alexander states that "In approaching the triduum, it is important to be mindful that the prayer book provides for one paschal liturgy in three parts."

The story that the Triduum tells is one full story. It is the story of how Jesus died and rose again. We might normally separate those parts out, but they are part of a unified whole. They are part of a story that Jesus and His Disciples would have lived out as one event.

In this time of social distancing, we have the opportunity to celebrate these services as a larger whole. Normally our work and lives get in the way of living into these services as one event. Social distancing allows many of us to not have these distractions divide up the services of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and The Great Vigil of Easter.

There is some sadness this year that we will not get to celebrate Easter in-person in our churches, but there is an opportunity for something new. Allow yourself to live into the story of Jesus' Passion and Resurrection in a new and full way. Set aside this time to be truly Holy.
